Head of Steam - Darlington Railway Museum

Head of Steam - Darlington Railway Museum has a collection relating to the railway history of the North East. Housed in North Road Station, it holds objects and archives about the Stockton and Darlington Railway, as well as other railways in the region, and the history of Darlington.

Key exhibits include Locomotion No. 1, and several Darlington-built engines. The museum’s workshops and activities offer links to many curriculum areas, and are suitable for all ages. As well as a variety of creative workshops on offer for groups, bespoke talks and tours can be created for specific projects including Arts Award.
