Area Manager, Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland

As Culture Bridge North East’s Area Manager for Newcastle, Northumberland and North Tyneside, I help to connect schools and cultural organisations in the North of Tyne through collaborative working and information sharing to develop creative opportunities for children and young people. I lead on our Artsmark programme, the creative quality standard for schools and education settings accredited by Arts Council England and work closely with The Forge, a participatory arts organisation based in Stanley, who are our Artsmark strategic delivery partner.

I began my career as a Secondary School Geography Teacher and then went on to work within North East local authorities as a community engagement officer and a participation and engagement officer. During these roles, I developed a volunteering programme to promote social integration with refugee families and championed youth voice with care experienced young people all through arts-based and community led practice. Now working within the arts and cultural sector with Culture Bridge North East, I channel my experiences from the education and social care sector to promote the positive impact which arts and culture has on children and young people which I find extremely motivating and rewarding.

Outside of work, I enjoy going for long walks, painting and travelling to new places within the UK and throughout Europe.
