Seven Stories

Seven Stories’ mission is to save, celebrate, and share original materials relating to children’s books and it is an arts organisation, museum, and archive whose varied collection provides insight and inspiration into the creative processes of authors and illustrators, from first scribble to final book. It works with schools, the further and higher education sectors, and families, offering access to artists, authors, illustrators, and drama practitioners.

Immersive and multi-sensory exhibitions showcase authors, illustrators, and books. Continuous professional development opportunities are available to practitioners and educators, as well as book packs and resources which promote reading for pleasure, increased literacy, and the value of children’s books as cultural capital for children and young people.

The learning programme takes place both at Seven Stories and in education and community settings. Arts Award is offered, and schools are also supported towards the achievement of Artsmark.
