National Glass Centre provides educational and creative workshops to children and young people in glass, ceramics, screen printing, architecture, and a variety of other craft disciplines. Its learning programme explores art and design, science and technology, and the heritage of glassmaking in Sunderland, and its changing exhibition programme is used as inspiration for activity.
Regular demonstrations allow visitors to view live glass blowing by skilled artists and master glass blowers. Links with the University of Sunderland’s glass and ceramics programme allow visitors the chance to meet emerging artists working at the forefront of their discipline, using cutting-edge technology and materials.
