The Great North Museum: Hancock has diverse collections covering archaeology, natural sciences and world cultures. Highlights include a life-size replica skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, major displays showing the wonder and diversity of the animal kingdom, spectacular objects from Ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt, significant collections of prehistoric material, and a planetarium offering a unique insight into the wonders of the universe.
The museum offers a high quality learning programme for schools and other
education groups. An experienced learning team develops and delivers the programme of resources and activities in disciplines including earth and life
sciences, archaeology, and early years engagement.
A programme to support the delivery of Arts Award Discover and Explore is available to both formal and informal groups.
