In this talk, Louise Stogdale, Head of Academy at Pennyman Primary School, will explore the persistent problem of disadvantage in schools. This will be interactive and examine some of the known barriers to learning that are presented by disadvantage. The session will also examine how to better read local 'doorstep disadvantage' and consider how to overcome some of the key barriers that are presented by it. The session will not just focus on the harsher realities of poverty, but also the optimistic ways in which it can be tackled by educators.
