Imagine If...2019 North East cultural education co

Imagine if... creative and cultural experiences supported children's mental health and well-being up to adulthood.

This year CBNE’s flagship conference will explore ways in which creative, cultural education might support children and young people’s mental health and well-being.

The day will have something for you, with sessions including:

How children across the region think about their own mental health

A young carer’s journey to become a social entrepreneur in the arts

Connections between poverty and mental health, and a practical approach to tackling this

Practical examples from primary and secondary schools collaborating with artists to support pupils’ emotional well-being

How music and theatre have been used to help children explore and understand their own mental health, and

How culture and the arts can be part of a supportive ‘habitat’ in school, in which young people can make sense of their own experiences and the world around them.

Sessions will include a mixture of keynotes and interactive workshops delivered by adults, children and young people from organisations including Children North East, Gateshead Council, Hotspur Primary School, Mental Health The Arts, Mortal Fools, Sunderland Music Education Hub, West Jesmond Primary School, Whickham High School and York St John University.

You’ll end the day feeling inspired, that your thinking has been challenged, that you’ve connected with others over a shared interest, and that you have at least one thing to take back to your setting and do.

Imagine if… is for those who are passionate about and can influence the development of cultural and creative provision in their school or organisation. You could be a headteacher, senior leader, teacher with a curriculum responsibility or a governor in a school. You might be a CEO, a leader of learning and participation, or a trustee in a cultural organisation.

At Imagine If we try to balance our audience to create an atmosphere for networking and collaboration, so please choose your ticket on the basis of where your work mainly takes you - in the education or the culture and arts sector.
