Bringing art to life in the primary classroom
As part of the cultural strand of their Continuing Professional Development and Learning programme for schools, West Jesmond Primary School would like to invite interested parties to this practical and informative training session in developing art in school. This is part of West Jesmond Primary School's on-going commitment as a National Teaching School.
This is your opportunity to take part in practical art sessions, consider questions to ask when looking at a painting with children, discover how to use the Take One Picture and Take One Object projects for cross-curricular work within whole school creative projects, use music as an inspriation for art, and learn how using Art Ambassadors to plan and lead lessons promotes creative child-led learning. This course will help you to improve the provision of art in your classroom and school.
The session is free to all participants and we would welcome attendance from interested Head Teachers, subject leaders and class teachers with an interest in developing arts and cross-curricular provision in their own schools.
The day will be led by Mel Byers, Art Co-ordinator at West Jesmond Primary School, with a chance to meet the West Jesmond Art Ambassadors.
