Welcome to our online directory. This resource will help you find the great arts and cultural organisations across the North East that all have something amazing to offer your school. You can search using geographical location, subject areas or key stages. These organisations can also help support your pupils to achieve Arts Award and your school to achieve Artsmark.
BALTIC is a major international centre for contemporary art, based on the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead. BALTIC offer Arts Award support in contemporary visual arts from Discover and Explore through to Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Beacon Films, formerly Beacon Hill Arts, is an award winning company specialising in supporting young people with special educational needs, autism spectrum disorders, and other additional needs to create their own films and music.
Circus Central offers engaging activities and learning through circus and specialises in children’s and youth circus. Its work in schools encompasses circus skills, heritage, and research projects, and its in-house Arts Award Advisers offer Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold support.
The Customs House runs a variety of exciting and inspiring creative activities and events for young people, helping them achieve Arts Award at all levels and developing their talent.
Dance City is the North East’s leading development organisation for dance, presenting a regular programme of performances, and commissioning original works to premiere in its theatre. There are a limited number of free tickets to performances available for young people doing Arts Award.
Discovery Museum’s high quality, facilitated schools programme offers a wide range of workshops that complement its diverse collections. These range from social and local history, maritime and fashion, to military history, and internationally important science.
Gateshead and South Tyneside Music Education Hub coordinates and
develops access to high quality music experiences for all young people across the area, including supporting young people and schools on Arts Award.
GemArts works with schools and community groups across the North East, providing opportunities for children and young people to experience excellent and diverse arts and culture.
Generator is one of the UK’s pioneering talent development agencies for musicians at all ages and levels, as well as for creative digital industries, providing support and opportunities, including for those working towards Arts Award
The Great North Museum: Hancock has diverse collections covering archaeology, natural sciences and world cultures. The museum offers a high quality learning programme for schools and other education groups.
