Durham Cathedral

A masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, Durham Cathedral has been a place of learning for almost a millennium. Building started in 1093 and was largely completed within 40 years. Its location on the Durham peninsula high above woodlands and riverbanks forms a dramatic setting.
