Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens

Sunderland Museums & Winter Gardens delivers a wide variety of arts activities and projects for children and young people on behalf of Sunderland City Council. These are based at the inspirational venues, Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, and Washington ‘F’ Pit, and in community settings such as schools.

Activities are inspired by the museums’ permanent collections of decorative and fine art, social history, natural history and world cultures. Temporary exhibitions, including those touring from national museums such as the National Portrait Gallery, The National Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, can also inspire different Arts Award projects.
