The Sunderland Empire’s active, forward thinking and creative learning team strives to provide opportunities for children and young people to engage with theatre and performing arts. Its tailored Arts Award programmes cover a wide spectrum of subjects, ages, and learning needs – having won national recognition for engaging learners with additional needs, such as autism spectrum conditions.
Interactive and exciting tours see school groups explore the building, unravelling its story from 1907 through to the present, collecting Arts Award evidence by gathering facts, and taking rubbings and photos.
Children and young people can also enjoy participatory talks, Q&As and bespoke workshops. Contact the team to discuss support for an Arts Award project, Artsmark application, or school improvement plan.
