The Customs House, Learning and Participation

The Customs House, Learning and Participation

The Custom's House Learning and Participation programme has enriched and changed the lives of thousands in our community, introducing people of all ages to new artistic and cultural opportunities.

The team is continuously developing artistic talent in South Tyneside and the surrounding area through our young people’s groups, projects with schools, Arts Award training, mentoring of emerging artists and The Customs House galleries.

To deliver this programme of work, they have developed relationships with partners both regionally and nationally. These partnerships include strategic work on the Arts Award with Culture Bridge North East; the Arts in Libraries programme for South Tyneside Council; and The Cultural Spring. Other partners who have generously funded their work include: Arts Council England, Youth Music, the Heritage Lottery Fund; Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Film Hub North; Rotary Club of Jarrow with Harton and the Community Foundation.
